In-depth analysis of the pricing-strategy skill, helping you design value-based pricing tiers, select the right value metrics, and optimize your pricing page.

Introduction

Pricing is often the most neglected yet crucial growth lever for SaaS products. When you are confused about “how much to charge,” “how to tier features,” or “whether to offer a free plan,” the pricing-strategy skill provides a systematic monetization diagnosis. It goes beyond guesswork by introducing Value Metrics, Van Westendorp price sensitivity tests, and tier-based models to help you discover the golden price point that maximizes profitability.

Concept

Pricing should be based on the “perceived value” delivered to the customer, not your development cost. Use the next best alternative as the floor and the customer’s perceived value as the ceiling, anchoring your price smartly in between.

Installation

There are multiple ways to install this skill:

  • Method 1: In the OpenClaw or Hermes Agent chat window, directly tell the Agent: “Please help me install the pricing-strategy skill.” (Easiest)
  • Method 2: Visit the skillhub website, install the skillhub store first, and then install the corresponding skill. (Suitable for Chinese users)
  • Method 3: Visit the Skills.sh website, search for the skill name on the homepage, and use the provided command to install it. (Suitable for users with technical experience)
  • Method 4: Visit the Clawhub website, search for the skill name on the homepage, click the download button to get the zip file, extract it, and place it in the OpenClaw skills directory.

Workflow Analysis

  • Business Context Diagnosis: First, it gathers your product type, current pricing, target market (e.g., SMB vs. Enterprise), and core business metrics like conversion rate and ARPU.
  • Identify Value Metrics: Evaluates your charging model (per user, per usage, or flat fee) to ensure that as usage increases, the value scales proportionally.
  • Tier Structure Design (Good-Better-Best): Guides you in structuring Basic, Recommended, and Premium tiers through feature gating, usage limits, and support levels.
  • Pricing Research & Validation: Utilizes the Van Westendorp price sensitivity method and MaxDiff analysis to find the optimal price range and pinpoint the most valued features.
  • Pricing Page Optimization: Provides a best-practice checklist covering above-the-fold layout, comparison tables, and pricing psychology (e.g., anchoring and the decoy effect) to boost page conversion rates.
